WHANAUNGATANGA

Wilbur's Latest Project

“Whanaungatanga” is a Maori principle meaning ‘connections’ or ‘kinship’ and is all about developing meaningful relationships and taking care of each other. This song is a collaboration between the Ngati Awa Kapa Haka dancers in Aotearoa under the guidance of Dr. Pouroto Ngaropo from the Iramoko Marae and features some of New Zealand’s prominent musicians like Horomona Horo,  Turanga Morgan Edmonds and Amba Holly.

With all the issues that we face throughout the world and at home here in Aotearoa, this song is timely and its spirit and main themes and expressions point to the importance of unity, kindness, respect, acknowledging one another in terms of who we are,and finding a pathway of unity with Aroha (love) as the key foundation.

Dr Pouroto Ngaropō, Chairman, Iramoko Marae, Aotearoa, NZ
